Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Cook to join our team at William Penn Senior Suites, an apartment-style assisted living facility that provides the perfect balance of freedom and safety for your loved one. As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing delicious and nutritious meals for our residents, while maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus and special diet orders

  • Inspect special diet trays to ensure correct diet is served to residents

  • Coordinate food service with other departments as necessary

  • Work with the facility's dietitian to implement recommended changes as required

  • Ensure that all food procedures are followed in accordance with established policies

  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including equipment and supplies

  • Assist in inventorying and storing in-coming food, supplies, etc.

  • Recommend equipment and supply needs to the Director of Food Services

  • Make only authorized food substitutions

  • Assist in food preparation for special meals, parties, etc.

Safety and Sanitation:

  • Monitor personnel to ensure they are following established safety regulations

  • Ensure established departmental policies and procedures are followed

  • Maintain a clean and safe, and sanitary kitchen environment

  • Ensure personnel wear and/or use safety equipment and supplies when lifting or moving residents

Requirements:

  • Must possess a minimum of an 8th grade education

  • Must be able to cook a variety of food in large quantities

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language

  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public

  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions

  • Must not pose a threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace

  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday

  • Must be able to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with others

  • Must be willing to perform tasks that may involve exposure to the blood and/or body fluids

  • Must be willing to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations

  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
