Job summary

Sonesta International Hotels in Hilton Head Island, SC is seeking a kitchen team member to prepare and cook orders daily. You will support inventory, maintain sanitation, and collaborate with departments to ensure quality service.

The role may involve warewashing and other kitchen duties as needed, with opportunities to contribute to a busy hotel operation. The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of food preparation experience, strong basic reading/writing/math skills, and flexibility to work

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook orders for daily operations.

• Keep work area organized; report unsafe or malfunctioning equipment.
• May assist as warewasher or with other kitchen duties as needed.

Job Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook orders for daily operations.
• Advise supervisor of low inventory items; assists in receiving items and taking inventory as required.
• Maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards in the kitchen area that meet or exceed the state and local Health Board inspection and Sonesta requirements.
• Maintain a clean, neat, and well-organized work area, including but not limited to reach-ins, walk-ins and counters. Reports all unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.
• May assist by performing warewasher or other kitchen duties as needed.
• Promote team work and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments. Key departmental contacts include Sales and Marketing, Banquets, Catering, Outlets, Maintenance, and Guest Services. May occasionally interact directly with guests.
• May assist with other duties as assigned.

This job requires ability to perform the following:

• Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds
• Standing up and moving about the kitchen

• Bending, stooping, kneeling
• May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or Holidays.
