Sonesta International Hotels on Hilton Head Island is seeking a kitchen team member to prepare meals according to recipes, monitor portions, and help control waste while supporting daily operations.

You will maintain cleanliness, assist with inventory and warewashing, and collaborate with Sales, Banquets, Catering, Outlets, Maintenance, and Guest Services to ensure smooth service. Equal opportunity employer and competitive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook orders for daily operations.
• Advise supervisor of low inventory and assist with receiving and inventory.
• Maintain sanitation standards meeting Health Board requirements.
• Keep work area clean and organized; report unsafe equipment.
• May assist with warewashing or other kitchen duties.
• Promote teamwork and coordinate with departments; may interact with guests.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook orders for daily operations.
• Advise supervisor of low inventory items; assists in receiving items and taking inventory as required.
• Maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards in the kitchen area that meet or exceed the state and local Health Board inspection and Sonesta requirements.
• Maintain a clean, neat, and well-organized work area, including but not limited to reach-ins, walk-ins and counters. Reports all unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.
• May assist by performing warewasher or other kitchen duties as needed.
• Promote team work and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments. Key departmental contacts include Sales and Marketing, Banquets, Catering, Outlets, Maintenance, and Guest Services. May occasionally interact directly with guests.
• May assist with other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

Basic reading, writing, and math skills. At least 2 years food preparation experience or training required.

This job requires ability to perform the following:

• Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds
• Standing up and moving about the kitchen
• Handling food, objects, products and utensils
• Bending, stooping, kneeling
• May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or Holidays.
