Job summary

Sun Communities & Sun Outdoors is seeking a cook to prepare a variety of meals while maintaining a clean and organized kitchen. You will follow health guidelines, restock supplies, and assist the Restaurant Manager with menu planning and daily specials.

The role requires basic computer skills, strong communication, a professional appearance, and a valid Food Handling Certification. A driver’s license is also required for certain assignments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 6 months of previous restaurant cook experience required.
• Must have Food Handling Certification.
• Must have valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Prepares food ordered by restaurant customers using grills, ovens, fryers and other equipment.
• Performs shift opening and closing duties and starts equipment as directed by the Restaurant Manager.
• Maintains clean and sanitary kitchen and storage areas per Health Department rules.
• Restocks products as needed throughout shift.
• Collaborates with the Restaurant Manager on daily specials and new menu items.
• Monitors menu cycles and notifies about shortages.
• Other duties as assigned by the Restaurant Manager.

Cooks prepare all food items. They are also responsible for cleaning, sanitizing and maintaining the kitchen and surrounding areas.

Job Duties

• Prepares food ordered by restaurant customers using a variety of kitchen equipment (grills, ovens, fryers, meat slicers, food processors, etc.) (Essential)


• Performs shift opening and closing duties as assigned by the Restaurant Manager such as starting equipment and cleaning of refrigeration units, grill and surrounding area, as well as other kitchen equipment (Essential)


• Maintains cooking areas and ensures kitchen equipment and food storage areas are clean, sanitary, and organized as required by the Health Department Rules and Regulations. Reports any kitchen equipment or maintenance issues to the Restaurant Manager (Essential)


• Restocks products as needed throughout shift


• Collaborates with Restaurant Manager to determine daily specials, new menu items, and innovative ways to cook and prepare food


• Regularly checks menu cycle to ensure all food items are available in advance, notifying the Restaurant Manager of any shortages


• Other duties as assigned

Requirements
