Job summary

Sun Communities & Sun Outdoors in Ruskin, FL is seeking a line cook to prepare food items, operate grills and ovens, and keep the kitchen clean and organized in compliance with health regulations.

You will work with the Restaurant Manager on daily specials and menu development, ensure timely stock and inventory, and follow safety standards. A High School Diploma or GED and 6 months of cook experience are required, with certification in Food Handling and a valid driver's license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares food ordered by restaurant customers using a variety of kitchen equipment (grills, ovens, fryers, meat slicers, food processors, etc.).
• Performs shift opening and closing duties as assigned by the Restaurant Manager such as starting equipment and cleaning refrigeration units, grill and surrounding area, and other kitchen equipment.
• Maintains cooking areas and ensures kitchen equipment and food storage areas are clean, sanitary, and organized as required by Health Department Rules and Regulations; reports issues to Restaurant Manager.
• Restocks products as needed throughout shift.
• Collaborates with Restaurant Manager to determine daily specials, new menu items, and innovative ways to cook and prepare food.
• Regularly checks menu cycle to ensure all food items are available in advance, notifying the Restaurant Manager of any shortages.
• Other duties as assigned.
