CHI Mercy Health Valley City is seeking a Cook to support patient, staff and visitor meals in a busy healthcare setting. You will prepare high-quality, safe, and delicious meals, including therapeutic diets, and follow all food safety regulations.

You will apply precise recipes, quality control, and timely service in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include checking menus, measuring ingredients, cooking to required temperatures, assembling patient trays, and operating kitchen equipment

Competenze

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in high-volume food service preferred.
• Knowledge of therapeutic diets is a plus.
• Ability to follow recipes and safety standards.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Cook, you will be essential to patient, staff, and visitor well-being by preparing high-quality, safe, and delicious meals, including those for multiple therapeutic diets. You will meticulously adhere to all state and federal food preparation regulations in a healthcare environment.
Every day you will follow safe cooking techniques, execute recipes with precision, and apply rigorous quality control to ensure consistent food quality and adherence.
To be successful in this role, you will possess proven experience in high-volume food preparation, a strong understanding of food safety and therapeutic diets, and a commitment to culinary excellence within a fast-paced setting.

• Checks menu to determine quantities of food to be prepared during shift and gathers all necessary food, supplies and utensils from storage areas.
• Measures, weighs and combines ingredients for quantity preparation of soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, gravies, etc in accordance with specific recipes.
• Cooks regular and special diet foods according to recipes to meet daily production requirements: inspects and tests food for quality correct seasoning, and proper serving temperature. Ensures that food is prepared in a timely fashion.
• Sets up hot food in tray line steam table in preparation for tray assembly; places food on patient’s plate according to diet and specified serving size.
• Transports food to and from storeroom, refrigerators, freezers, and serving areas.
• Operates a variety of manual, electrical and/or gas cooking equipment (ovens, toaster, mixers and blenders).

Job Requirements

Required

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred

• Two (2) years food service experience

Pay Range

$15.71 - $22.19 /hour
