McDowell Center for Children, a UHS facility in Dyersburg, TN, is seeking a Cook to prepare and serve breakfast, lunch and dinner for adolescent male patients. You will follow approved menus, coordinate with dietitians and nursing staff, and uphold food safety and sanitation standards in a 24-hour care setting.

Responsibilities include applying standardized recipes, monitoring temperatures, maintaining clean workspaces, and helping with inventory and supplies to minimize waste; prior kitchen

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age.
• High school graduate/GED required.
• Food service or culinary training are preferred.
• Previous cooking experience or completion of appropriate training program preferred.

• Prepare hot and cold menu items according to standardized recipes and patient diet orders.
• Monitor and log food temperatures, ensure proper storage, and follow infection control protocols.

• Assist with daily and monthly inventory checks, order supplies, and minimize food waste.

Our staff is made up of licensed therapists, psychiatrists, nurses, and counselors who offer 24-hour support for our patients. We provide young men with the skills they need to improve their thinking patterns, make healthier choices, and create new futures with improved outlooks and outcomes.

The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving breakfast, lunch and dinner meals for patients in compliance with federal, state, and local dietary regulations, as well as the facility’s policies. This role involves working with dietitians and nursing staff to meet individual dietary requirements, maintaining strict food safety and sanitation standards, and ensuring timely, high-quality meal services. according to the approved menu cycle and production sheets.
