Job summary

Mercyhealth in Crystal Lake, IL is seeking a cook to prepare and plate meals for service in a fast-paced kitchen. You will execute knife skills, follow standardized recipes, and ensure proper temperatures and sanitation throughout the shift.

Responsibilities include cooking to order, maintaining log sheets, and collaborating with team members to deliver high-quality meals. If you are reliable, detail-oriented, and have a passion for food service, this role fits well.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of experience as a cook or two years of experience in food service department preferred.
• Graduate of vocational school, or culinary program preferred.

• Read and follow standardized recipes.
• Cook to order and in quantities per menu and service needs.
• Observe and test foods for doneness and quality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDetermines food items and prepares them for serviceIs able to prepare food from scratch that is appetizing and appealingAbility to execute culinary knife skillsReads and follows standardized recipesCooks and/or prepares food in quantities according to menu, par level and number of persons to be servedCooks to orderObserve and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently.Dishes mealsOrders suppliesMaintains proper food temperature log sheetsMaintain proper cooking/quick chill log sheetsPortions and dishes food on plate according diet ticket.
