Overview

Performs daily kitchen duties to provide a safe, clean, and sanitized environment for our patients, residents, customers, and partners with quality service in mind. Prepares and plans foods according to menu, order, diet, and standardized recipe and portion control. Maintains food quality and safety standards, including proper labeling, dating, and storage. Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of work areas. May work overtime or alternate shifts as needed. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Determine food items and prepare them for service
• Prepare food from scratch that is appetizing and appealing
• Execute culinary knife skills
• Follow standardized recipes
• Cook and prepare food in appropriate quantities
• Cook to order
• Test foods for proper cooking
• Dish meals
• Order supplies
• Maintain food temperature and sanitation logs
• Portion and dish food according to diet tickets
• Perform dishwashing duties
• Utilize various cooking procedures (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.)
• Maintain a clean and sanitized work environment
• Adhere to safety and sanitation regulations
• Use protective barriers as required
• Provide excellent customer service
• Work well independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• One year of cooking experience or two years in food service preferred
• Culinary program or vocational training preferred
• State Food Safety Sanitation Certification required within 90 days

Physical Demands

This is medium work involving standing, walking, using hands, reaching, talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling. Lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally. Good manual dexterity and vision abilities required.
