General Purpose

To prepare, season, and cook food for hospital patients, families, visitors, and employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
  • Reviews production sheets to determine type and quantities of meats, vegetables, soups, and desserts to be prepared.
  • Prepares foods in accordance to diet restrictions when applicable.
  • Follows standardized recipes when preparing foods.
  • Assists in procuring needed items from designated areas.
  • Cooks on grill areas of the cafeteria during meal service as assigned.
  • Ensures food will be ready for specified mealtimes by following cooking schedules.
  • Confers with Supervisor and/or Dietitians regarding modified diet preparations.
  • Sets up patient trayline and cafeteria lines according to menu combinations and assist on patient trayline as needed.
  • Maintains cooking area in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Follows sanitation procedures in all food preparations.
  • Notifies Head Chef and/or Coordinator with any food shortages.
  • Completes special cleaning assignments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
