We are pleased to announce the following available position:

COOK – PRN – Various 8 hr. Shifts

Responsible for properly and safely preparing and cooking food for patients and staff according to the menu and recipes provided by the Dietitian and assist in recipe development. Maintain high food and service quality. Work with Facility Director/Manager regarding appropriate usage of leftovers, menu changes, and substitutions. Assist Director in preparation of special employee and/or catering functions. Follow all standardized procedures and maintain a safe and sanitized work area. Able to effectively and safely utilize kitchen tools, appliances, and equipment.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

Education: High school graduate or equivalent OR relevant work experience.

Experience: Two (2) years of cooking experience required, with prior experience as a cook in a fast-paced setting; experience in a healthcare facility and/or behavioral healthcare setting strongly preferred. Industrial food preparation experience preferred. Basic knowledge of modified diets, serving principles, and training in food services sanitation needed. Safe Serve certification preferred. Prior kitchen supervisory experience preferred.

Additional Requirements: Must be able to prioritize workload and effectively multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Excellent food preparation and presentation skills. Able to effectively communicate, prioritize tasks, and demonstrate flexibility, with a strong focus on safety and quality.

Physical Requirements:

Move efficiently enough to meet the needs of several patients and/or move rapidly to provide timely intervention of patient aggression. Able to stand, sit, or walk during work shift. Able to hear spoken words in a normal vocal range, respond to signals, alarms, codes, or other displays. Recognize vocal intonation that signals changes in acuity. Able to bend, reach, and stoop. Able to accurately follow instructions and convey information. Able to read instructions and complete any needed documentation and/or reports. Perform duties requiring manual dexterity. Able to lift up to 30 lbs.
