Responsibilities

  • Meal Preparation & Service: Prepare, cook, and plate meals per menus and dietary needs.

  • Sanitation & Food Safety: Follow all safety protocols and keep areas clean and labeled.
  • Inventory & Waste Control: Monitor supplies and minimize waste.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Great food creates great moments. As a Cook at The Wynwood House, you'll play an important role in enhancing our residents' daily lives by preparing fresh, nutritious, and delicious meals in a warm, hospitality-focused environment. Working independently during your assigned shift, you'll oversee meal preparation, kitchen organization, food safety, and sanitation while helping ensure every dining experience reflects the comfort and quality our residents deserve.

Essential Functions/ Duties:

Essential duties may include, but are not limited to:

Meal Preparation & Service
  • Prepare, cook, and plate all meals in accordance with menus and dietary requirements
  • Ensure meals are served on schedule and meet quality and portion standards
  • Modify meals for special diets as directed
Kitchen Operations
  • Maintain responsibility for kitchen operations during assigned shifts
  • Ensure kitchen setup, organization, and workflow
  • Receive, inspect, and store food and supplies
Sanitation & Food Safety
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Clean kitchen, equipment, and storage areas daily
  • Maintain proper food storage, labeling, and temperature control
Inventory & Waste Control
  • Monitor supplies and report shortages
  • Minimize waste and control overproduction
Other Duties:
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work:
  • Part-time or full-time, based on community needs
  • Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
Requirements
Required Skills/ Abilities:
  • Ability to work independently and manage kitchen responsibilities
  • Knowledge of basic cooking and sanitation practices
  • Strong time management and organization Education and Experience Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent. (Required)
  • Food service experience (Preferred)
  • Food safety certification (Preferred or within 30 days)
Work Authorization/ Clearances:
  • Criminal History Clearances
  • FBI fingerprint clearance (if required)
  • Pre-employment drug screening (if applicable)
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
Physical Requirements and Physical Demands:
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8–10 hours per shift)
  • Frequent use of hands for food preparation, cooking, and equipment operation
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and twist frequently throughout the shift
  • Ability to work in confined kitchen spaces and move between stations efficiently
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to heat, humidity, and cold environments (kitchen, freezer, storage areas)
  • Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment (ovens, stovetops, slicers, mixers, etc.)
