Job summary

Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo County, Inc. (CAPSLO) is seeking a dedicated Cook to provide nutritious meals for childcare programs. The role supports the Food Production Supervisor and ensures meals meet CACFP guidelines.

Responsibilities include preparing meals, testing recipes, delivering to centers, managing inventory, and maintaining a sanitary kitchen. A valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in institutional or commercial food services and/or culinary science education.
• Experience cooking for large groups is preferred.
• Has valid California Driver’s License, insured transportation, mileage reimbursement, and acceptable driving record; DMV printout and proof of insurance required.

• Assist the Food Production Supervisor in preparing breakfast, lunch, and snacks according to CACFP guidelines.
• Help create, test, and standardize recipes that meet nutritional requirements.
• Pack and deliver food to multiple centers, maintaining high standards for food quality and safety.
• Manage inventory by receiving and storing food service supplies correctly.
• Keep detailed records of deliveries, equipment maintenance, and financials.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen environment and ensure thorough cleanup after meal service.
• Transport food to childcare centers in agency vehicles and communicate with staff about deliveries.
• Participate in workshops and career development activities to enhance your skills.

What you bring to the table:

• A combination of two years of experience in institutional or commercial food services and/or culinary science education.

As a Cook you will:
