Job summary

Garden Gate Health Care Facility in Cheektowaga, NY is seeking a part-time Cook to prepare nutritious meals that support resident health and satisfaction while maintaining a safe kitchen environment.

You will follow production sheets, keep records, and assist with inventory while delivering high-quality service in a compassionate, team-focused setting within The McGuire Group network.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: High School Diploma or equivalent; culinary school preferred.
• Minimum 6 months kitchen experience.
• Knowledge of therapeutic diets, modified food consistencies, and portion control preferred.
• Familiarity with HACCP and safe food handling practices preferred.
• Strong communication, teamwork and customer service skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve menu items according to production sheets, recipes, therapeutic diets, and modified food consistencies.
• Ensure proper food handling, portion control, storage, labeling, dating and temperature monitoring.
• Assist with inventory management, stocking and proper storage of food and supplies.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen following infection control and safety procedures.
• Prepare meals for special events and functions as needed.
• Monitor kitchen equipment and report hazards or maintenance concerns.
• Provide guidance and oversight to Dietary Aides in the absence of supervisory staff.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and facility policies and procedures compliance.

• Assist with inventory management, stocking, and proper storage of food and supplies
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen while following infection control, sanitation, and safety procedures
• Prepare meals for special events and functions as needed
• Monitor kitchen equipment and report hazards, maintenance concerns, accidents, or incidents
• Provide guidance and oversight to Dietary Aides in the absence of supervisory staff
• Support quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with facility policies and procedures

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum education requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent; Culinary School graduate preferred
• Minimum experience requirement: 6 months working in a kitchen
• Knowledge of therapeutic diets, modified food consistencies, portion control, and food safety practices preferred
• Familiarity with HACCP regulations and safe food handling procedures preferred
• Strong communication, teamwork, and customer service skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining quality standards
• Commitment to providing excellent service to residents, families, and staff
