Job summary

Spaulding Nursing and Therapy Center Brighton is seeking an experienced cook to support weekend operations in our kitchen. You will lead a small team, prepare a wide range of dishes, and ensure quality, safety, and timely service for residents and staff.

The role requires a High School Diploma and 5–7 years of cooking experience, with strong skills in food preparation, inventory control, and following prescribed recipes. Weekend shifts run 6am–2:30pm and 11:30am–8pm.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading kitchen staff and coordinating meal preparation.
  • Strong cooking skills across meats, vegetables, soups, and baked goods.
  • Ability to manage inventory, ordering, and record-keeping as part of daily operations.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Receives ingredients and supplies from main kitchen and pantry.
  • Reviews production schedule to determine food requirements and supplies.
  • Prepares and displays a wide variety of foods following prescribed recipes.
  • Completes production sheets and records.
  • Maintains clean work areas, utensils, and equipment.
  • Cater special events as required.
  • Handle equipment issues and spoiled/defective items.
  • Prepare special diets according to prescribed standards.
  • Record inventory and/or order stock.

Position is every weekend with shifts from 6am - 2:30pm and 11:30am - 8pm.

  • Receives food ingredients and supplies from main kitchen and pantry as required for daily operations.
  • Reviews production schedule to determine food requirements including variety and quantity of food for preparation and to assemble supplies and equipment needed for daily cooking activities.
  • Prepares and displays a wide variety of foods such as vegetables, fruits, meats, soups, salads, simple pastries/breads and cereals in accordance with prescribed recipes using a full range of cooking methods; tests foods being cooked for quality.
  • Completes production sheets and other records as required.
  • Maintains clean work areas, utensils, and equipment.
  • Caters special events as required.
  • Attends to day-to-day problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies; detects and ensures disposition of spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies/equipment, and/or other unusual conditions.
  • Required to prepare special diets according to prescribed standards.
  • Record inventory and/or order stock.
