We are looking for caring and dependable individuals to join our team as a Cook. In this essential role, you will prepare and serve nutritious and appealing meals for our residents while following food safety, sanitation, and dietary guidelines. You will work closely with the Dietary team to ensure meals are prepared accurately, on time, and with attention to each resident’s needs.
Previous cooking or food service experience preferred
Experience in a healthcare, senior living, restaurant, or institutional food service setting is a plus
Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and safe food handling practices
Ability to follow recipes, menus, and dietary instructions
Dependable attendance and punctuality
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Must demonstrate a positive and respectful attitude toward residents, families, and co-workers
Prepare and cook meals according to established menus, recipes, and dietary requirements
Ensure meals are prepared and served on time
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection-control guidelines
Prepare meals according to residents’ special dietary needs and physician-ordered restrictions
Ensure food is properly portioned, labeled, stored, and maintained at appropriate temperatures
Assist with meal service and ensure residents receive the correct meals and appropriate portions
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and food preparation area
Properly operate and maintain kitchen equipment
Monitor food supplies and notify the appropriate supervisor of shortages or needed items
Follow proper procedures for food storage, handling, and disposal
Complete required cleaning and sanitation duties
Attend required in-service training programs
Demonstrate respectful and professional behavior toward residents, families, co-workers, and facility contacts
Assist in other dietary areas and duties as directed by the Dietary Manager or Director of Food Services
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
Ability to lift and carry food, supplies, and kitchen equipment as needed
Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling
Ability to work in a warm kitchen environment
Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment
Ability to use both hands and arms for food preparation and cleaning activities
Exposure to hot surfaces, steam, food odors, cleaning products, and kitchen equipment
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
