Job summary

First Discovery Children's Academy is seeking a dependable Preschool Cook to prepare nutritious meals for children from infants to school-age. You will follow CACFP meal pattern requirements, maintain meal counts and records, and ensure a clean, compliant kitchen with proper safety procedures.

You will order supplies, manage inventory, and coordinate with leadership to ensure smooth meal service while accommodating dietary restrictions and allergies.

Qualifications

• Previous cooking experience, preferably in childcare or high-volume food service.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen organization.
• Experience with CACFP guidelines.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Dependable attendance and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Prepare nutritious breakfasts, lunches, and snacks following CACFP meal patterns.
• Follow approved menus for infants through school-age children.
• Maintain accurate CACFP meal counts and production records.
• Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and compliant with health regulations.

What You'll Do

As our Preschool Cook, you will:

• Prepare nutritious breakfasts, lunches, and afternoon snacks following CACFP meal pattern requirements.
• Follow approved menus while preparing meals for infants through school-age children.
• Maintain accurate CACFP meal counts, production records, and required documentation.
• Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and compliant with all health department regulations.
• Order food and kitchen supplies while managing inventory and minimizing waste.
• Receive, store, and rotate food using proper food safety procedures.
• Monitor food temperatures and maintain sanitation logs.
• Accommodate approved food allergies and dietary restrictions.
• Work closely with the leadership team to ensure meal service runs smoothly.

Preferred Qualifications

• Georgia Certified Food Safety Manager Certification is preferred
• Experience working in a licensed childcare center.
• Knowledge of Bright from the Start food service requirements.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
