Your Job

Georgia-Pacific's Consumer Products division is seeking qualified professionals for the Converting Technician position to support the Converting department inside the pulp and paper manufacturing facility located in Muskogee, OK. In this role, you will be part of the continued operation and reliability improvements of various production lines. This position reports to the Technician Capability Leader and collaborates with Manufacturing Engineers, other Advanced Technicians, Reliability Technicians, and team members involved with the product system. The shift is a 12-hour rotating shift including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. The starting pay is $21.50 per hour.

Our Team

Located on the Kerr-McClellan Navigational Channel on about 640 acres, the Muskogee operation spans roughly 70 acres with over 2.9 million square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space, employing approximately 830 employees. We are a major employer in the area, operating 12-hour shifts, 7 days a week, and producing significant quantities of tissue and paper products daily.

What You Will Do

  • Build and improve asset strategies; operate equipment within targets and limits; provide feedback for improvements.
  • Evaluate and perform operator basic care (OBC) and lubrication routines.
  • Recommend spare parts strategies.
  • Operate equipment to meet standards and specifications; monitor and input data into control systems.
  • Troubleshoot equipment to optimize production.
  • Perform basic asset care, preventive maintenance, and cleaning tasks.
  • Work as part of a team to meet or exceed safety, quality, waste, and production goals.
  • Operate and work around mobile equipment.
  • Adhere strictly to safety rules, including wearing safety equipment.
  • Perform physical tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, and standing for up to 12 hours in a noisy, industrial environment, including confined spaces.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • High School Diploma or GED.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • At least one year of experience in manufacturing, industrial, agricultural, or military environments or completed a related post-high school program.
  • Three or more years of experience operating, repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting mechanical equipment.
  • Experience with computerized machinery in a production setting.
  • Experience working in a pulp/paper mill or with converting equipment.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance routines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
