Warehouse Associate – Summary

Receives, stores, and distributes material and products within establishments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.


• Conveys materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or other designated areas.


• Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.


• Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes items to production workers or assembly line.


• Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves, or conveys orders to packing station or shipping department.


• Marks materials with identifying information.


• Opens bales, crates, and other containers.


• Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed.


• Weighs or counts items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards.


• Arranges stock parts in specified sequence for assembly by other workers.


• Compiles worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.


• Completes requisition forms to order supplies from other plant departments.

Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months of related experience/training; or equivalent combination.


• Language Skills: Ability to read, comprehend simple instructions, write simple correspondence; effectively present information to customers, clients, and employees.


• Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide with whole numbers, fractions, decimals; compute ratios, rates, percent; interpret bar graphs.


• Reasoning Ability: Apply common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions; deal with problems involving a few variables in standardized situations.


• Other Skills and Abilities: Bilingual in Spanish helpful but not required.

Physical Demands

• Regularly stand, walk, use hands to handle items; reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear.


• Occasional climbing or balancing; lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.


• Requires close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, focus adjustment.

Work Environment

• Frequently exposed to extreme cold, extreme heat.


• Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places.
