Job summary

Job description

Job Summary

Receives, stores, and distributes material and products within the warehouse by performing the following duties. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Ability to lead and direct team efforts in a warehouse environment.
  • Reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
  • Conveys materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or other designated areas.
  • Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
  • Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes items to production workers or assembly line.
  • Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or conveys orders to packing station or shipping department.
  • Marks materials with identifying information such as labels.
  • Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
  • Weighs or counts items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards.
  • Arranges product in specified sequence for assembly by other workers.

Leads a group of 10+ employees in the warehouse operation, motivating and directing team efforts while informing the department supervisor of problems or potential problems that require immediate attention.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rates, ratios, and percent; draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning ability: apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer skills: knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is helpful.
  • Bilingual skills are highly desirable.
Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, clasp or hold objects; may need to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Vision required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment
