Member First Mortgage is seeking a Conventional Underwriter for our growing Underwriting team! Qualifications
Responsibilities:
  • Assess income adequacy and verify assets meet closing requirements from acceptable sources.
  • Review appraisals, ensure documented values, appropriate risks, and guideline compliance.
  • Approve or reject loan applications, requesting additional info if needed, and document decisions.
  • Monitor underwriting queues to meet Service Level Agreements.
  • Perform underwriting functions per program, company, and legal standards, staying updated on policies and software.
  • Communicate with departments on file issues and complex scenarios, assist with audit items.
  • Ensure documentation is complete and accurate, meet all conditions before closing, and inform management of significant issues.

Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience.

Education: Two-year college degree, specialized training, or extensive in-house training.

Expertise in RD, Condo, Jumbo, or Construction lending required.

Additional Qualifications:
  • Understanding of RD, Jumbo, Condo, Construction, and Conventional underwriting.
  • Knowledge of financial statements, credit reports, tax returns, and appraisals.
  • Familiarity with lending programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Sound judgment and effective communication skills.
  • Decision-making, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general PC applications, including 10-key and word processing.
Physical Requirements:

Regular sitting, standing, walking; occasional lifting up to 10 pounds; extended computer use; communication via telephone.

Work Environment:

Remote office setting.
