Qualifications

  • 5+ years of machine shop experience or recognized apprenticeship.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and machine to tight tolerances.
  • Proficiency in operating various manual machine shop equipment.

Job description

Conventional Machinist

As a Conventional Machinist, you will perform moderately complex tasks supporting the repair and maintenance of OEM equipment. Responsibilities include layout, setup, operation, and tool adjustments on various manual machine shop equipment.

Your Challenges
  • Operate all types of machines (lathes, mills, grinders, saws) with limited supervision.
  • Manufacture or modify complex components from stock per drawings.
  • Use precision measuring instruments accurately and record readings.
  • Read complex blueprints and technical documents proficiently.
  • Machine parts to close tolerances, ensuring first-time quality.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production staff to resolve machining issues.
  • Perform small and large assembly and machine heavy steel components.
  • Maintain safety standards and work independently.
  • NDT experience is a plus.
What You Bring
  • US citizenship and ability to obtain DOD security clearance.
  • 5+ years of machine shop experience or completion of a recognized apprenticeship.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and machine to tight tolerances.
  • Proficiency in operating lathes, mills, drills, and power tools.
  • Experience designing fixtures and understanding GD&T tolerances.
  • Ability to work overtime and travel up to 25%.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
