Job summary

LONG Building Technologies, Inc. in Littleton, CO, seeks a Controls Technician Supervisor to oversee the controls technician team, assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure work meets safety and quality standards.

You will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and sales to resolve issues and optimize system performance. The role requires extensive HVAC and control systems knowledge, hands-on startup/commissioning experience, and proven leadership to mentor staff and drive project

Qualifications

• 2 years of computer/electronic degree and 5-7 years temperature control system start-up, checkout, and service experience
• Ability to legally drive a company vehicle
• Expert knowledge of HVAC, control systems, building automation, electrical systems, energy management, engineering, installation, and construction procedures
• Programming and troubleshooting with KMC, Distech, Tridium/Honeywell, and other equivalent systems
• Analytical skills in solving software and integration challenges
• Ability to interpret mechanical plans and specifications
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and assume responsibility
• Strong customer service and analytical skills
• Leadership, communication, and planning skills
• Travel to inspect jobsites and customer locations

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day activities of the control technicians, review progress, ensure tasks meet schedules and quality standards
• Assist with complex troubleshooting and support the team in diagnosing and installing control systems
• Assign tasks, set priorities, provide guidance to ensure team efficiency
• Assist in job, commissioning, programming, and project management as needed
• Assist sales personnel and project managers with labor estimates for changes
• Supervise and mentor technicians including hiring, performance reviews, and coaching
• Resolve customer concerns regarding installations, startup, and commissioning
• Coordinate with project managers to monitor changes and retrofit opportunities
• Support surveying of mechanical and control systems for retrofit opportunities
• Ensure quality and timeliness of Building Intelligence construction activities
• Coordinate deadlines with operations manager, project managers, installers, customers, and other trades
• Assist in billing accuracy and cost estimation for technicians
• Ensure compensation for work performed, including out-of-contract efforts
• Allocate billable time efficiently
• Conduct performance evaluations and identify training needs
• Enforce safety procedures and promote a safety culture
• Involve management in bid opportunities with risk
• Attend job-site coordination as applicable
• Provide documentation for scheduling, personnel, billing, and site issues
• Perform timely timecard reporting
• Perform other duties as assigned

Position Purpose

As a LONG Controls Technician supervisor, you will be involved with overseeing the controls technician team. You will be responsible for coordinating and managing the activities of the technicians under their supervision, by assign tasks, providing guidance and training, monitoring progress, and ensuring that work is completed according to quality and safety standards. The Control Technician Supervisor will also collaborate with other departments or teams to coordinate maintenance schedules, resolve technical issues, and optimize system performance.

• Look for changes in the work and alerts project managers to change order opportunities.
• Capability of assisting sales/engineering in surveying existing mechanical and control systems in preparation for retrofit opportunities
• Continuously strives to improve LONG processes, quality, employees, and oneself.
• Ensure the quality, standardization, and timeliness of all Building Intelligence construction activities.
• Be familiar with job site completion deadlines and coordinate workforce and material, needs with Building Intelligence operations manager, project managers, installers, control technicians, customers, and other trades.
• Assist project managers and accounting with billing accuracy in work completion.
• Ensure that Technician cost estimate (labor and material) is met by teams.
• Work to ensure that LONG is fairly compensated for all work including that performed outside contractual obligations.
• Efficiently allocate billable time to projects.
• May also conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify training or development needs for the team members.
• Enforce safety procedures, conduct safety inspections, and promote a culture of safety within the team.
• Involve LONG management in bid and other business opportunities that present unusual or excessive risk.
• Attend job site coordination where applicable.
• Provide documentation as needed for scheduling, personnel, billing, and job site issues.
• Perform timely and accurate timecard reporting.
• Other duties as assigned.

Pay range

$52 - $60 per hr. plus potential profit share.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of MS project and Blue Beam
• Knowledge of LONG’s system operations and infrastructure, as it pertains to construction operations and its stakeholders.
• Completion of the ASP Program
