Job summary

LONG Building Technologies seeks a Controls Service Technician to troubleshoot and program temperature control systems in commercial HVAC installations. You will perform emergency and preventative maintenance on installed systems, using your field experience and technical knowledge.

Inspect control systems, perform software updates and calibrations, and educate users on operation and energy conservation; you will document repairs and coordinate with the technical supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Ability to legally operate a company vehicle.
  • Aptitude for computers and/or mechanical equipment.
  • Strong analytical skills in solving software and integration challenges.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical plans and specifications.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and willingness to accept responsibility.
  • Strong customer service and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide inspections and assessments of control systems for damage, wear and tear, and signs of degradation.
  • Perform preventative maintenance including cleaning, part replacements, software updates, or optimizations to minimize failures.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Communicate with customers to answer inquiries, provide guidance, and resolve technical issues.
  • Educate system users on proper operation and upkeep of temperature control systems.
  • Supply information to customers about replacements or repairs key to devices.
  • Keep records of all repairs and maintenance and report issues to the supervisor.
  • Modify databases for supported systems to meet customer needs and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Calibrate and check-out control systems ensuring proper sequence of operations.
  • Instruct customer personnel on operation and energy conservation routines.
  • Update drawings and provide as-built documentation.
  • On-call work may be required periodically.
  • Other duties as the team evolves.

  • Utilize industry experience to troubleshoot any issues with systems to identify and implement solutions

$30.65 - $33.92 per hour, plus potential profit share.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion up to level 1 of the ASP Program
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, control systems, building automation, electrical systems, energy management, engineering, installation, and construction procedures
  • Programming and troubleshooting skill with KMC, Distech, Tridium/Honeywell, and other equivalent systems
  • Computer programming or electronic technical degree

Physical Requirements
  • This work may involve standing for extended periods, climbing ladders or scaffolds, and working in tight spaces.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. from floor to countertop and countertop to floor.
