AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

The Data Center Global Services team is looking for exceptional individuals to join our Controls organization as a Controls Technician for Service & Construction of the Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) within Amazon data centers. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to help deliver safety and security while providing capacity at the lowest cost.

Key Responsibilities

• Work in the field at Data Center sites, supporting multiple sites under Deployment and/or Service.
• Perform point‑to‑point checkouts between field devices and controllers.
• Perform first‑line diagnostics, troubleshooting and maintenance of instrumentation associated with the BMS and EPMS in data centers.
• Perform network configurations and communication testing between third‑party devices and controllers or servers.
• Calibrate sensors and perform configuration tasks.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, control panel drawings, and basic close‑loop control concepts.
• Supervise low‑voltage electrical contractors performing wiring and installation of field devices.
• Commission and support systems‑level testing.
• Provide red‑lined drawings and recommendations based on field work and verify accuracy of as‑built drawings.
• Assist in performing root‑cause analysis during testing and commissioning.
• Ensure all personnel on site utilize proper safety methodology.
• Work on‑call and on a rotating schedule as required and respond to after‑hours emergencies.
• Utilize ticketing systems, root‑cause analysis, and task prioritization for basic support concepts.

Physical Requirements

• Walk jobsites in uneven terrain and work at heights, including from ladders.
• Use hands and fingers for handling or feeling, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Lift or move up to 49 pounds, and participate in group lifts for 50 pounds or more.
• Work shifts longer than eight hours in duration.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; ITAR Compliance required.
• Associate’s degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field with 1+ year of relevant industrial controls or HVAC controls experience, OR 3+ years of relevant industrial or HVAC controls experience in lieu of a degree.
• Basic understanding of industrial control systems, including meters, devices, sensors, relays, and troubleshooting using standard hand tools, digital metering, or calibration/diagnostic equipment.
• 1+ year of experience with low‑voltage controls, wiring, networking signals, electrical and mechanical systems, computers and operating systems.
• Ability to work non‑standard hours, varying work rotations/shifts, and overtime as required.
• Certified Controls System Technician (CCST) Level I or higher from the International Society of Automation (ISA).
• Experience with common communication protocols (MQTT, BACnet, and/or MODBUS).
• 5+ years of experience in controls/automation, construction, or related field in a technical environment.
• Demonstrated understanding of engineering documentation, electrical and mechanical diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
• Experience in data centers or mission‑critical environments.
• Fundamental knowledge of network design, layout, and low‑voltage (copper/fiber) cabling.
• Prior AWS or Amazon experience (preferred).
• 4+ years of military service (preferred).

Base salary ranges for this position are:

• USA, MS, Canton – \$29.00 – \$51.00 USD hourly
• USA, OH, MARYSVILLE – \$32.00 – \$57.00 USD hourly
• USA, OR, Hermiston – \$32.00 – \$57.00 USD hourly
• USA, VA, Herndon – \$32.00 – \$57.00 USD hourly

Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
