Job summary

State Group Automation is a leading automation solutions provider based in the United States. We seek a skilled Controls Technician to work on high-impact projects across North America, including design, commissioning, and system validation of PLC/robotic systems.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of hands-on controls experience, an associate degree in Electrical Technology or related field, and familiarity with AB/Siemens systems. Some travel may be required; TN visa eligibility is welcomed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on experience as a Controls Technician or similar.
• Associate degree or two-year technical diploma in Electrical Technology, Automation, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or related field.
• Experience reading electrical schematics and using electrical test equipment.
• Experience in automotive/manufacturing/warehouse automation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Comply with safety requirements and promote a positive safety culture.
• Collaborate with customers, contractors, controls engineers, and project stakeholders to support project execution and problem resolution.
• Perform PLC I/O checkout, point-to-point testing, and functional testing per engineering documentation.
• Configure and verify PLCs, HMIs, networks, field devices, and industrial communications.
• Test machine sequences, interlocks, alarms, safety devices, and fault-recovery functions.
• Perform equipment startup, commissioning, system validation, production startup, and performance testing.
• Troubleshoot equipment using established procedures and provide feedback on performance and control behavior.
• Verify installations against drawings, I/O lists, control documents, and field conditions; report discrepancies.
• Additional duties as assigned.
