Job Purpose:
The Controls Technician is the PCIS systems owner for the production areas and responsible for eliminating maintenance and breakdown related losses. The PCIS Technician repairs and maintains all site equipment, including:
- Ensuring optimal operation of control systems
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical and control issues
What are we looking for?
- Must have met time in role (12+ Months)
- Must have line manager approval to apply
- Must be in good standing in current role
- 2-year Technical Degree/Certificate (Electrical/Electronic/Controls/Automation) or equivalent experience
- 1+ years of Instrumentation & Electrical, Electronics, and Factory Controls & IT experience, including troubleshooting and problem resolution
- 1+ years experience in a controls function within a manufacturing environment
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent lifting/carrying pushing (10-50 lbs) and pushing/pulling (50-300 lbs)
- Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, handling, and gripping
- Ability to work at heights, climb stairs, lean over equipment, and work in confined spaces
- Ability to stand for extended periods (minimum eight hours per shift)
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2-year Technical Degree (Electrical/Electronic/Controls/Automation)
- 2+ years of Instrumentation & Electrical, Electronics, or Factory Controls & IT experience, including troubleshooting
- Knowledge of Server Administration, Virtual Infrastructure, & Database Administration
- Operational Electrical Qualification Certificate (ability to work independently on live electrical panels)
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain contact with users to gather information and process problems or requirements
- Analyze and test applications for Factory Control systems
- Understand Rockwell 5000 and Siemens Step 7 Control Systems, including ControlLogix, CompactLogix, Factory Talk, Step 7, and thin-client technologies
- Support operational use of HMI terminals and software applications on Control Systems
- Basic knowledge of Wonderware automation software and network systems (Ethernet, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Profibus, ProfiNet)
- Troubleshoot programs in Siemens and Rockwell PLC Control Systems
- Interface with PLCs, scales, display devices, and other instrumentation and electrical devices
- Install, program, and troubleshoot VFDs, Servo Drives, and sensors

- Produce popular GUM brands including Orbit, 5 Gum, Eclipse, Extra, etc.
