Mental Health Technician - Evening Shift

This full-time opportunity at Valle Vista offers 40 hours per week, full benefits, and a 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM schedule providing care on our adult psych detox unit. There is an opportunity for overtime and to cover various shifts if interested.

Full-Time evening positions are eligible for our $5,000 sign-on bonus!

Position Summary:

Mental Health Technicians provide direct care and supervision for residents, ensuring their safety, promoting hygiene and self-help skills, and enforcing rules and expectations. They serve as role models, demonstrating problem-solving and decision-making skills, assist with recreational and therapeutic activities, transport residents to medical appointments, and ensure scheduled programming is followed. Duties are performed in accordance with ANA Standards of Practice for Psychiatric Mental Health Care, and the facility's mission, policies, and standards. They report to the Unit Coordinator under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer.

Job Duties:
  1. Monitoring and intervening with patients for safety
  2. Ensuring a structured therapeutic milieu
  3. Role modeling problem solving and healthy relationship skills

Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's in Psychology or related field preferred.
  • Experience: 6 months to 1 year working with behavioral health inpatient population preferred.
  • Additional: Must be at least 21 years old.
