Summary
Provides programming, technical checkout, owner training, and assists in subcontractor coordination on Building Automation projects. Responsible for completing assigned tasks within estimated hours. Provides assistance with Controls Service as directed. Participates in the controls service on call program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow work schedule as directed by Resource Coordinator.
- Communicate job status with Lead Technician and Project Manager or Resource Coordinator.
- Configure, set up, and calibrate end devices on factory or field installed hardware.
- Create and program site databases.
- Utilize Checkout documentation provided by engineering to verify system performance.
- Examine and troubleshoot communication links and Local Area Networks.
- Provide technical assistance to installation sub-contractors as required.
- Identify, analyze and diagnose BAS and system problems through remote interface means or directly while on site.
- Ensure documentation procedures are followed as an ongoing process.
- Maintain accurate and complete project notes that can be used by engineering for As‑Built drawings.
- Ensure project database and graphics database are backed up to network drive at job completion.
- Provide remote access information for sites to Virtual Service.
- Represent company by serving as a direct customer contact, working to develop, maintain, and enhance customer relationships.
- Provide on‑site Owner Training Classes for customers.
- Provide technical support to associates.
- Maintain company equipment and hardware in good working order.
- Comply with OSHA, site and Brady safety standards.
- Participate in ongoing training opportunities (TPC, online webinars, etc.).
- Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required; regular travel requirements with occasional overnight travel.

Safety
- Follow all company safety programs and report any non‑compliance to your Team Leader.
- Notify Team Leader or Safety Manager of any unsafe conditions.
- Proper PPE equipment must be used at all times when necessary.
- Report all accidents and injuries to your Team Leader and HR immediately.
- All monthly training topics on safety completed and done during the month due.
Qualifications

Education and/Or Experience
- Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two‑year college or technical school in HVAC, Computer Science or a related field and three years field experience.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Products and Computers.
- Knowledge and understanding of various communications protocols used in the industry including BACnet, LonTalk and Modbus.
- Familiarity with networking applications, Ethernet, TCP‑IP, IP Networks and infrastructure; experience with Trane, Tridium, and/or Teletrol building automation is desired but experience with other control manufacturers such as Johnson Controls, Schneider, Honeywell, Siemens, Distech, etc. will also be considered.

- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Physical Demands
- Occasional sitting; frequent stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and climbing; constant standing, walking, reaching, and gripping.
- Material handling demands include lifting from floor level to overhead, with occasional lifting up to 115 lbs., frequent lifting up to 50 lbs., and constant lifting up to 25 lbs., placing the position in the Very Heavy Physical Demand Classification (PDC).
- Must be able to talk and hear.
- Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- This position requires working outdoors, in mechanical/equipment rooms and possible extreme weather conditions.
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and heavy equipment.
- The associate is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock (high voltage); and vibration.
- The associate is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
