Job summary

Ellwood Group Inc is seeking an experienced electrical technician to perform PLC programming changes and instrument calibration across our plant systems. You will work with Allen Bradley and Siemens controls, implement HMI interfaces, and troubleshoot PLCs and electrical components to minimize downtime.

The role requires reading schematics, knowledge of electrical theory, and IT networking, with a focus on reliability and safety.

Qualifications

• Two years' experience in repair and maintenance of electrical and electronic systems.
• Able to read and understand blueprint drawings and schematics.
• Thorough knowledge of electrical theory and principles; IT infrastructure understanding.

Responsibilities

• Perform PLC programming changes and modifications (Allen Bradley, Siemens preferred).
• Programming of VFDs; HMI interfacing (Powerflex, ABB, SEW drives Panelview HMIs).
• Execute instrument calibration (DC powered loops, 4-20 mA, and Digital).
• Implement configurations on instrumentation with the HART handheld communicator.
• Troubleshoot and repair plant operating systems with minimal downtime; troubleshoot all electrical components, PLCs, and controls.
• Service electronic equipment by checking, testing, and replacing faulty components, circuits, PCBs and similar devices.
• Analyze electrical systems, recommend improvements for efficiency and dependability.
• Maintain equipment logs of performance problems, repairs, calibrations, or tests.
• Set up and test industrial equipment to ensure proper operation.
• Enter information into computer to copy programs or edit schematics.
• Complete scheduled preventive maintenance to detect and prevent problems.
• Consult with customers, supervisors, or engineers to plan layout or resolve issues.
• Examine work orders and discuss with operators to detect problems and causes.
• Coordinate with others involved in installing or maintaining equipment.
• Advise management regarding customer satisfaction and product improvements.

What you’ll do:

• Maintain equipment logs that record performance problems, repairs, calibrations, or tests;
• Set up and test industrial equipment to ensure that it functions properly;
• Enter information into computer to copy program or to draw, modify, or store schematics, applying knowledge of software package used;
• Complete scheduled preventive maintenance tasks, such as inspecting, cleaning, repairing, or upgrading equipment; to detect and prevent problems;
• Consult with customers, supervisors, or engineers to plan layout of equipment or to resolve problems in system operation or maintenance;
• Examine work orders and converse with equipment operators to detect equipment problems and to ascertain whether mechanical or human errors contributed to the problems;
• Coordinate efforts with other workers involved in installing or maintaining equipment or components;
• Advise management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, or suggestions for product improvements;

What you’ll need:

• Minimum High School graduate or equivalent G.E.D.andproof of completed trade school training program required.
• Minimum of two (2)years' experience in repair and maintenance ofelectrical and electronic systems is preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of electrical theory and principles, properties of materials and principles; broad understanding of IT Infrastructure, networking, and IP structures;
• Able to read and understand blueprint drawings and schematics;
• Abides by all policies and procedures established by the Company including plant safety regulations and work rules;
• Must have ability and desire to work with others;
• Meets attendance requirements;
• Performs other duties as deemed necessary.
