Job description

Position Overview

dormakaba is seeking a Controls Technician based in Indianapolis, IN. The Controls Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing industrial automation systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role supports plant reliability by ensuring PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and other control devices operate safely and efficiently.

This position is available on First Shift (6:00AM - 2:30PM) with a base pay range of $34/hr - $37/hr. Mandatory overtime as needed.

$2,000 Sign-on Bonus (details provided during interview)

What you will do
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and restore functionality of automated machinery and controls systems
  • Diagnose and resolve technical problems related to control and monitoring systems and perform needed repairs
  • Test and calibrate systems devices to ensure functional reliability of operating/monitoring systems
  • Install, modify, and maintain system hardware such as electrical conduit, sensor wiring, power supplies, control system enclosures, etc.
  • Maintain and operate workstations, including creating/updating, maintaining a point database, and maintaining infrastructure
  • Program control systems using appropriate system program language for proper sequences of operations and operating schedules
What we require
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience installing and maintaining building/plant control systems and their related equipment
  • Experience with PC and application software
  • Knowledgeable of Ladder logic and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)
What we prefer
  • Associate's degree, trade school, or vocational training in industrial electronics, automation, mechatronics, or a related technical field
  • Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, relays, safety interlocks, and industrial networking protocols
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair control systems; basic PLC programming/editing
  • Skilled at reading and interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across functions
