Job summary

Edison Smart® is seeking an experienced Controls Technician to join our Houston-based team. We install and service building automation systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional clients, with a focus on energy-efficient solutions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in building automation/controls or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with Niagara Framework (N4/AX); certification is a plus.
• Familiarity with BACnet, Modbus, LON, and other open protocols.
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems and control sequences.
• Ability to work independently on-site and manage multiple projects.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally to job sites.

Responsibilities

• Install, program, commission, and service building automation systems (BAS/BMS) at customer sites
• Configure and troubleshoot controllers, sensors, and field devices
• Perform system integration and commissioning using Niagara (N4/AX)
• Diagnose and resolve HVAC control issues, network communication problems, and system faults
• Read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings, control sequences, and points lists
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure systems meet performance specifications
• Provide ongoing preventive maintenance and emergency service support
• Document system configurations, changes, and service records

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of experience in building automation/controls, HVAC controls, or a related field
• Hands-on experience with Niagara Framework (N4/AX) required; certification a plus
• Familiarity with BACnet, Modbus, LON, or other open protocols
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, mechanical/electrical schematics, and control sequences
• Ability to work independently on-site and manage multiple projects
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally to job sites
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills
• Associate's degree or technical certification in a related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
