Job summary

Magna Mechatronics, Mirrors & Lighting in Michigan is seeking a hands-on engineer to support set-up, manufacturing and engineering in all production phases. You will drive continuous improvement, troubleshoot complex control systems, and help develop quality procedures aligned with ISO/IATF standards.

The role requires 3+ years with PLCs, vision systems, robotics, and servo controls; experience with major brands is preferred.

Qualifications

  • BS degree or equivalent with 3+ years troubleshooting PLCs, vision, robotics and servo systems.
  • Experience with major manufacturers including Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Fanuc, Cognex.
  • Strong communication and teamwork to lead, train and support staff.
  • Demonstrated project management and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support to set-up personnel, manufacturing and engineering.
  • Participates in continuous improvement to improve OEE metrics.
  • Troubleshoots and maintains PLC, Vision, Robotics and Servo systems.
  • Conducts process verification via manual records or automated controls.
  • Develops work standards and maintains records for tools and equipment.
  • Provides training and work direction to staff; performs other duties.
  • Investigates root causes and implements corrective actions for variance.
  • Communicates with process engineering to ensure robust solutions.
  • Assists in development and implementation of quality procedures per ISO/IATF.

Group Summary

The Mechatronics, Mirrors and Lighting group specializes in automotive technologies that are driving the future of mobility. Job Responsibilities
  • 1. Provides technical support to set-up personnel, manufacturing, and engineering in all phases of manufacturing.
  • 2. Participates in continuous improvement activities to improve OEE (overall equipment effectiveness) metrics through downtime reduction, cycle time reduction, scrap reduction, and improved efficiency.
  • 3. Troubleshoots, identifies, implements, and maintains controls systems, including: PLC, Vision, Robotics, and Servo.
  • 4. Conducts manufacturing process verification via manual records or through implementation of automated controls.
  • 5. Develops work standards for current tools, machines, and equipment in designated area and maintains accurate records.
  • 6. Provides training and work direction to other staff. Performs other duties as necessary.
  • 7. Be a first line responder to independently investigate, find root cause and implement immediate and long term corrective action for out of tolerance process variance and equipment down time.
  • 8. Communicate with process engineering and support personnel to ensure robust process and solutions.
  • 9. Assists in development and implementation of quality procedures, work instructions and standards. Understands Magna Mirrors Holland’s quality policy and assures compliance with ISO/IATF systems.
Requirements
  • 1. B.S. Degree in area of Manufacturing/Electrical Engineering Technology or a minimum of 3 years’ experience troubleshooting PLCs, Vision Systems, Robotics, and/or Servo Systems. Experience with the following manufacturers is preferred: Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Fanuc, Denso, Cognex, Keyence, GVI, Yaskawa, Bekhoff, and Wago.
  • 2. Demonstrated ability to establish communication with all controls systems in area of responsibility for troubleshooting and programming purposes.
  • 3. Demonstrated good interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills to communicate with internal and external contacts and work in a team environment. Must be able to lead, train, and support other staff.
  • 4. Strong project management and problem-solving skills to work on projects independently under minimal work direction.
