Job summary

Magna International Inc. in Holland, Michigan, is seeking a Controls Technician to provide hands-on technical support for setting up personnel, manufacturing, and engineering across all manufacturing phases.

You will troubleshoot PLCs, vision systems, robotics, and servo systems while contributing to continuous improvement and OEE. The role requires a BS in a related field or 3+ years’ experience, strong communication, and the ability to lead and train others.

Qualifications

  • B.S. Degree in Manufacturing/Electrical Engineering Technology or a minimum of 3 years’ experience troubleshooting PLCs, Vision Systems, Robotics, and/or Servo Systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish communication with all controls systems in area of responsibility for troubleshooting and programming purposes.
  • Demonstrated good interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills to communicate with internal and external contacts and work in a team environment. Must be able to lead, train, and support other staff.
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills to work on projects independently under minimal work direction.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support to set-up personnel, manufacturing, and engineering in all phases of manufacturing.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities to improve OEE metrics through downtime reduction, cycle time reduction, scrap reduction, and improved efficiency.
  • Troubleshoots, identifies, implements, and maintains controls systems, including: PLC, Vision, Robotics, and Servo.
  • Conducts manufacturing process verification via manual records or through implementation of automated controls.
  • Develops work standards for current tools, machines, and equipment in designated area and maintains accurate records.
  • Provides training and work direction to other staff.
  • Be a first line responder to independently investigate, find root cause and implement corrective action.
  • Communicate with process engineering and support personnel to ensure robust process and solutions.
  • Assists in development and implementation of quality procedures, work instructions and standards.

Provides technical support to set-up personnel, manufacturing, and engineering in all phases of manufacturing.## ## 2. Participates in continuous improvement activities to improve OEE (overall equipment effectiveness) metrics through downtime reduction, cycle time reduction, scrap reduction, and improved efficiency.## ## 3. Troubleshoots, identifies, implements, and maintains controls systems, including: PLC, Vision, Robotics, and Servo.## ## 4. Conducts manufacturing process verification via manual records or through implementation of automated controls.## ## 5. Develops work standards for current tools, machines, and equipment in designated area and maintains accurate records.## ## 6. Provides training and work direction to other staff. Performs other duties as necessary.## ## 7. Be a first line responder to independently investigate, find root cause and implement immediate and long term corrective action for out of tolerance process variance and equipment down time.## ## 8. Communicate with process engineering and support personnel to ensure robust process and solutions.## ## 9. Assists in development and implementation of quality procedures, work instructions and standards. Understands Magna Mirrors Holland’s quality policy and assures compliance with ISO/IATF systems.## ## **REQUIREMENTS**:## 1. B.S. Degree in area of Manufacturing/Electrical Engineering Technology **or** a minimum of 3 years’ experience troubleshooting PLCs, Vision Systems, Robotics, and/or Servo Systems. Experience with the following manufacturers is preferred: Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Fanuc, Denso, Cognex, Keyence, GVI, Yaskawa, Bekhoff, and Wago.## ## 2. Demonstrated ability to establish communication with all controls systems in area of responsibility for troubleshooting and programming purposes.## ## 3. Demonstrated good interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills to communicate with internal and external contacts and work in a team environment. Must be able to lead, train, and support other staff.## ## 4.
