Job summary

Cerrowire is hiring Controls Technicians at its manufacturing site in Hartselle, AL. This role reports to the Maintenance Lead/Supervisor and collaborates with Maintenance and Engineering teams to install, troubleshoot, repair, and modify automated production equipment, industrial robots, and electrical control systems.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, plus 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in automated environments, with proficiency in motor drives, PLCs, and electrical

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification preferred.
  • 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in automated manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Experience troubleshooting motors, drives, electrical circuits, hydraulics, power transmission, and robotics.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley RSLogix/Studio 5000 and Siemens software.
  • Proficiency reading electrical/mechanical diagrams and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to read CAD designs and interpret blueprints.
  • Strong problem solving, time management, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to unplanned downtime and machine breakdowns.
  • Plan and perform maintenance for non-routine issues; conduct root cause analysis.
  • Design, fabricate and install mechanical and electronic equipment; modify programs.
  • Engage in safety, compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Assist in shutdown planning and major maintenance activities.
  • Complete training and perform on-the-job training to others.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain shop area and housekeeping.
  • Wire and repair motors; repair wiring per NEC.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot AC drive systems and PLCs; access PLC logic via laptop.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on plant equipment.
  • Advise operators on safe procedures and requirements.
  • Install, start up, and shut down equipment per safety procedures.
  • Perform lockouts or tagouts as required.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Cerrowire is hiring Control's Technicians at their manufacturing sites in Hartselle, AL. This position reports to the Maintenance Lead/Supervisor and works with Maintenance and Engineering teams to install, troubleshoot, repair, and modify automated production equipment, industrial robots, and electrical control systems.

Minimum Requirements And Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required preferred
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Mechatronics, Industrial Electronics, or Automation preferred
  • 3 to 5+ years of hands‑on technical experience in an automated manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting motors, drives, electrical circuits, hydraulic systems, power transmission, and robotics.
  • Experience with all levels of Allen Bradley software Slice to RS Studio 5000, Siemens Software (Block logic), Read electrical, and mechanical diagrams.
  • Experience with Cad software system for design.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Problem‑solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and the ability to work in a safety‑conscious manner
Major Responsibility Areas and Duties
  • Responsible for responding to all unplanned downtime or breakdowns on machines.
  • Plan and execute maintenance activities for non‑routine problems or issues. Perform root‑cause analysis on equipment failures to minimize future production downtime.
  • Design, fabricate and install mechanical and electronic equipment and perform program changes.
  • Be engaged in safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Assist in the planning, coordination and performance of shutdown and major maintenance activities.
  • Complete all training as required and perform OJT to other employees as required.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Perform housekeeping of shop and areas where maintenance activities were performed.
  • Wire and repair electric motors, repair basic wiring according to NEC.
  • Responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting problems with AC drive systems and PLCs. Should be able to access and interpret PLC logic via a laptop computer or other using the appropriate communication language.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on plant equipment, to include lubrication, repairs, and adjustments, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
  • Advises operators and others of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment and components.
  • Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with safety procedures.
  • Performs lockouts or tag out as required.
  • Additional duties as assigned, not determined at the time of hire.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions
  • Stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work at heights on occasion.
  • Ability to work in cold, heat, noise, dust, fumes, paint, chemicals, oils, etc.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
