Job summary

Cerrowire, part of Marmon Holdings, is hiring Controls Technicians for our Hartselle, AL sites. You will install, troubleshoot, repair, and modify automated production equipment, industrial robots, and electrical control systems alongside Maintenance and Engineering teams.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED (associate preferred), 3–5+ years of hands-on automated manufacturing experience, and strong PLC/motor drive skills.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED; associate degree/technical cert preferred.
• 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in automated manufacturing.
• Experience troubleshooting motors, drives, electrical circuits, hydraulic systems, power transmission, and robotics.
• Familiarity with Allen-Bradley RSLogix/Studio 5000 and Siemens software; reading electrical/mechanical diagrams.
• Proficient in reading engineering drawings/blueprints; CAD experience.
• Strong problem-solving, organization, and time-management skills; safety-focused.

Responsibilities

• Respond to unplanned downtime and breakdowns on machinery.
• Plan and execute maintenance for non-routine issues; conduct root-cause analysis.
• Design, fabricate, and install mechanical/electronic equipment; implement program changes.

Perform root-cause analysis on equipment failures to minimize future production downtime.Design, fabricate and install mechanical and electronic equipment and perform program changes.Be engaged in safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.Assist in the planning, coordination and performance of shutdown and major maintenance activities.Complete all training as required and perform OJT to other employees as required.Work with minimal supervision.Perform housekeeping of shop and areas where maintenance activities were performed.Wire and repair electric motors, repair basic wiring according to NEC.Responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting problems with AC drive systems and PLCs. Should be able to access and interpret PLC logic via a laptop computer or other using the appropriate communication language.Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on plant equipment, to include lubrication, repairs, and adjustments, cleaning, and troubleshooting.Advises operators and others of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment and components.Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with safety procedures.Performs lockouts or tag out as required.Additional duties as assigned, not determined at the time of hire.Physical Requirements and Environmental ConditionsStand for long periods of time.Ability to work at heights on occasion.Ability to work in cold, heat, noise, dust, fumes, paint, chemicals, oils, etc.Must be able to lift 50 lbs.Ability to work at heights on occasion.
