Simmons Foods is seeking a hands-on Controls Technician to manage electrical control systems on production equipment. The role emphasizes troubleshooting, ladder logic, and PLC/HMI programming within a food manufacturing setting.
You will work with maintenance to reduce downtime, modify control systems for better operations, and ensure safety and reliability across the line. High school diploma or equivalent with tech schooling is preferred.

The Controls Technician is responsible for electrical control systems on all production/support equipment and machinery. Must be proficient at troubleshooting/repairing all aspects of electrical control systems and electrical components for production equipment and machinery. This position requires a person that is very hands-on and assertive in driving continuous improvement activities pertaining to production equipment.
Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and works with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and walk. Enters and locates information on a computer. Visually verifies information, often in small print. Must be able to manually lift or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work in extreme temperatures, on feet for entire shift. Must be able to work in cramped, enclosed, elevated, wet, dirty area with a noise level above 90 decibels.
Steel toed shoes, ear plugs, hair net, hard hat and other PPE as required in appropriate environment.

Industrial controls experience/skills. Knowledge of RSLogix 500 and 5000 as well as FactoryTalk is required. ABB knowledge is a plus.
Preference for food manufacturing organization.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Some college and/or Tech School graduate.
