A leading food manufacturing company is seeking a Controls Technician for the night shift in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The successful candidate will be responsible for electrical control systems on production equipment, troubleshooting and improving processes. This role values military experience and requires a high school diploma. Strong knowledge of RSLogix and Allen Bradley systems is essential. Job description

Night shift: Monday–Friday, 8:00 p.m. – 4:00 a.m.

Responsibilities
  • The Controls Technician is responsible for electrical control systems on all production/support equipment and machinery.
  • Proficient at troubleshooting/repairing all aspects of electrical control systems and electrical components for production equipment and machinery.
  • Hands‑on and assertive in driving continuous improvement activities pertaining to production equipment.
  • Effectively troubleshoot technical issues related to maintenance and emergency situations (electrical, motor, control problems).
  • Assist maintenance with electrical and control support and with creating, integrating, troubleshooting and improving a variety of processing and packaging control systems.
  • Work with the Maintenance Manager/Supervisors to develop plans to reduce downtime in the area.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to modify control systems in order to improve operations.
  • Participate as a member of the team: ongoing development, communication, implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinate work to ensure best practices with all team members.
  • Participate in team meetings, foster cohesiveness, identify areas lacking cohesiveness, and actively support issue resolution.
  • Maintain familiarity with Simmons operating systems principles and objectives, communicating concerns and improvement ideas.
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
Qualifications
  • Industrial controls experience/skills; knowledge of RSLogix 500 and 5000 as well as FactoryTalk.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley HMIs and PLCs, relays, logic diagrams.
  • Ability to modify ladder logic programming and read/understand ladder logic and electrical schematics.
  • Familiar with AC/DC motor controls and variable frequency drives.
  • ABB knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience in a food manufacturing organization is preferred.
  • Minimum education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred education: Some college and/or technical school graduate.

Physical Requirements
  • Regularly sit, stand, walk, and work on feet for entire shift.
  • Manually lift or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Work in extreme temperatures, cramped, enclosed, elevated, wet, or dirty areas with noise levels above 90 decibels.
  • Enter and locate information on a computer and visually verify information, often in small print.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Steel‑toed shoes, ear plugs, hair net, hard hat, and other PPE as required in the appropriate environment.
