Job summary

Edison Smart, partnered with a leading systems integrator, is seeking an experienced Controls Systems Integrator to design, program, commission, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for data centres and mission-critical environments.

You will work closely with customers, deliver reliable automation solutions, and support commissioning and handover across multiple projects while traveling up to 30% across the US.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or related engineering discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 3–7+ years of experience within controls engineering, systems integration, or industrial automation.
  • Strong experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Program, configure, troubleshoot, and commission PLC and HMI-based control systems.
  • Develop structured, reliable, and well-documented PLC and SCADA software.
  • Design intuitive and user-friendly HMI interfaces.
  • Troubleshoot control system hardware, software, and communications issues.
  • Work directly with customers to understand technical requirements and develop effective solutions.
  • Support the commissioning and start-up of control systems within data centre and other mission-critical environments.
  • Collaborate with engineering and project teams to deliver projects safely, efficiently, and to a high technical standard.
  • Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, from development through to commissioning and handover.

We are looking for an experienced Controls Systems Integrator to join their team and play a key role in the design, programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting of advanced control systems for data centre and industrial applications.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and working closely with customers to deliver reliable, high-quality automation solutions.

What We're Looking For:
  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 3–7+ years of experience within controls engineering, systems integration, or industrial automation.
  • Strong experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
  • Experience with HMI and/or SCADA systems.
  • Previous experience working within data centre environments is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a wider engineering team.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working directly with customers.
  • Willingness to travel across the US approximately up to 30%, including the potential for international travel.
