Job summary
Apel Extrusions Ltd. seeks a hands‑on Controls Systems Engineer to support, maintain, and improve automation and electrical controls across aluminum extrusion operations.
The role involves PLCs, HMIs, drives, SCADA, and data integration with ERP, with frequent floor presence on a non‑temperature‑controlled plant floor. The engineer will troubleshoot, lead automation projects from concept to commissioning, and collaborate with operations, maintenance, IT, contractors, and OEMs to maximize
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Journeyman Electrician with PLC/Automation cert; 5+ years in manufacturing.
- Experience programming Allen‑Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix controllers.
- Strong SQL and ERP integration experience.
- Experience with Ethernet/IP and industrial networking standards.
Responsibilities
- Design, program, troubleshoot, and maintain AB PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and servo systems.
- Develop Ignition apps, configure security, and scripting for SCADA.
- Maintain SQL databases and interface production equipment with ERP systems.
- Support installation, commissioning, and validation of new equipment and control systems.
- Lead continuous improvement and capital projects in an industrial setting.
- Provide on-floor troubleshooting and training for maintenance staff.
