Job summary

Edison Smart is seeking a Controls Sales Engineer to expand its building automation and controls footprint in the Deer Valley area. You will develop opportunities, present technical and commercial solutions, and guide complex proposals to closure, focusing on BAS, controls installations, upgrades, and service packages with an emphasis on customer relationships.

The role requires deep knowledge of building automation, HVAC systems, and a proven track record in commercial controls sales.

Qualifications

• We are looking for someone with proven experience selling building automation systems, controls or related HVAC technology.
• Ideally, you will have experience in BAS/BMS/building automation controls sales.
• You should understand the commercial HVAC and mechanical systems landscape and be capable of selling new controls projects and service agreements.

Responsibilities

• Develops new business opportunities for building automation and controls.
• Drives sales of new controls installations, upgrades and retrofit projects.
• Identifies opportunities for service agreements and ongoing maintenance contracts.

Controls Sales Engineer

Deer Valley, AZ | $100,000 $110,000 Base + Bonus + Car Allowance

The Opportunity

We are currently working with an established building automation and controls contractor that is looking to strengthen its sales team with an experienced Controls Sales Engineer.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven professional with a background in building automation controls sales, who understands the HVAC and mechanical services market and enjoys developing new business while building long-term customer relationships.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying new opportunities, developing solutions and selling building automation controls, service agreements and ongoing maintenance packages to commercial customers.

The Role

As a Controls Sales Engineer, you will play a key role in growing the company’s controls and service business across the local market.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing new business opportunities for building automation and controls
• Selling new controls installations, upgrades and retrofit projects
• Identifying opportunities for service agreements and ongoing maintenance contracts
• Building and maintaining relationships with building owners, facility managers, contractors and engineering firms
• Developing proposals and quotations in conjunction with engineering and project teams
• Conducting site visits and understanding customer requirements
• Providing technical and commercial solutions around HVAC, mechanical and building automation systems
• Managing the sales process from initial opportunity through to contract award
• Identifying opportunities within existing accounts while continuing to develop new customers
• Working closely with project delivery and service teams to ensure a smooth handover
• Achieving agreed sales and revenue targets

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone with proven experience selling building automation systems, controls or related HVAC technology.

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience in BAS/BMS/Building Automation Controls sales
• A strong understanding of commercial HVAC and mechanical systems
• Experience selling new controls projects
• Experience selling service agreements and preventative maintenance packages
• A proven track record of developing new business
• Strong technical understanding combined with commercial sales ability
• Experience working with building owners, facility managers, mechanical contractors and/or General Contractors
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• A consultative approach to sales rather than purely transactional selling
• The ability to manage opportunities from initial contact through to close

HVAC, mechanical services, BAS or controls industry experience is strongly preferred.
