Job summary

Invio Automation is seeking a Project Controls Manager to coordinate design, communication, and deliverables across engineering and operations. You will oversee action registers, track progress, and liaise with Invio Controls teams to ensure on-time project milestones.

The role requires a strong background in controls programming or robotics, with experience in automotive applications and the ability to travel up to 15% of the year across North America.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or electrical engineering; 6+ years in controls programming or robotics required.
  • Non-degreed applicants should have at least 10 years of related experience.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with engineering and operations to align project deliverables.
  • Maintain an action register and report status to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate across departments during all project phases.
  • Lead and document design and function discussions of automated equipment for automotive projects.
  • Review technical documents and validate components before controls release.
  • Travel within North America up to 15% for in-plant reviews.
  • Pursue ongoing training to adopt new technologies.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by leadership.

Description

A Project Controls Manager works alongside our engineering and operations teams to coordinate design, communicate project status and oversee project deliverables. Each tool/station/cell requires a list of deliverables throughout the project build, as well as dedicated communications between the GM and Invio Controls teams. Our goal is to exceed expectations and ensure our customers receive an exceptional experience at Invio Automation.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the GM Strategic supplier teams to ensure all deliverables are met for each unique program or project.
  • Create, maintain, and present an open action register (internally and externally).
  • Work cross functionally with all departments during all phases of the project.
  • Must have experience with the following:
    • The ability to lead and track technical discussions regarding design and function of Automated equipment as it applies to the Automotive industry.
    • In-depth understanding of project flow, timing and processes from concept to delivery.
    • Background in PLC build/programming, Robotics or Automation cells and/or Cell installation.
  • Acts as an intermediary between customer teams and Invio Controls engineers, to filter and document discussions and confirm necessary designs or changes.
  • Capable of reviewing technical documentation and validating components prior or during the controls release process.
  • Able to travel within North America for occasional in plant reviews. Travel does not exceed 15% of the year.
  • When necessary, participate in classes and training seminars to learn new technologies and techniques deemed helpful to performance on the job.
  • Other tasks and projects as assigned by leadership.

  • Experience 2 or more of the following are preferred:
    • GM Supply power
    • GCCH (EPLAN)
    • GCCS
    • GRS
    • EPP and SEP
    • NAX documentation
  • Working knowledge of personal computer, keyboard, and software programs
EDUCATION

Four-year degree in engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing or Electrical) or a related field is preferred. Minimum (6) years’ experience of working with controls programming or robotics is required. Non-degreed applicants should have at least (10) years of related experience.
