Job summary

Johnson Controls is a global leader in intelligent buildings. This role focuses on delivering control systems projects that improve building performance while emphasizing safety, quality, and accountability.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams through planning, commissioning, and warranty, manage project costs and procurement, and maintain strong customer relationships to ensure successful project outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Technical associate degree with two years of field experience, or four years of related field experience in the HVAC industry.
  • Hands-on experience in systems design and commissioning of digital HVAC controls systems.
  • Ability to communicate technical material clearly to a non-technical audience.
  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned responsibilities with limited supervision.
  • Nice to Have: Strong personal computer skills.
  • Knowledge of control theory and HVAC systems.
  • Knowledge of project accounting, costing principles, and contracting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead assigned control systems projects from planning through commissioning, closeout, and warranty support.
  • Coordinate hardware design, system programming, installation coordination, and system and network commissioning.
  • Manage project costs, billings, collections, profitability, and cash flow for assigned work.
  • Maintain communication with customers throughout all phases of the project and pursue change orders when scope changes arise.
  • Direct subcontractors, electrical installers, technicians, designers, and administrative support as needed.
  • Manage material selection, ordering, budgeting, and delivery schedules for project procurement.
  • Secure pricing and availability from vendors, suppliers, and mechanical and electrical subcontractors.
  • Oversee jobsite coordination for panel and field device locations and ensure installation aligns with project requirements.
  • Complete loading, device verification, commissioning, and validation of system controllers.
  • Provide accurate as-built records, commissioning documentation, manuals, and owner/operator training as required.
  • Support subcontractor payment, billing, and project closeout activities.
  • Develop project plans, coordinate resources, and maintain viable long-term relationships with customers, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors.

  • Win as one team by building strong working relationships with customers, subcontractors, technicians, designers, and internal partners.
  • Focus on what matters by removing obstacles, maintaining clear priorities, and keeping communication practical and timely.
  • Provide coaching and technical assistance so delegated work is completed accurately, on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Keep management informed with timely project updates, forecasts, and documentation that support sound decision-making.

The hiring salary range for this role is $100K-$125K, determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, location, and market data.
