OceanaGold Corporation is seeking a Project Controls Engineer to lead scheduling, planning, estimating, and cost control for complex heavy industrial projects in a surface mine setting near Charlotte, SC. You will verify contractor milestones, develop baselines, and monitor cash flow while coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams.

Required are 5+ years of relevant experience and a degree in Engineering or related discipline.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in plant construction projects (mining or heavy industry).
  • Engineering degree or related discipline preferred (Mining/Civil/Mechanical).
  • Experience with scheduling, cost control, and contractor coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain master project schedules with interdependencies.
  • Analyze manpower, equipment, and construction progress using performance trackers.
  • Prepare cost estimates, review contractor proposals, and monitor budgets.
  • Coordinate schedule updates with site personnel and suppliers.
  • Generate status reports for progress, schedule, and cost.
  • Promote safety, health and environmental awareness across projects.

Job Description

Reporting to, the Projects Construction Manager.The Project Controls Engineer (PCE) is responsible for performing avariety of tasks including scheduling, planning, estimating, and cost control tasks that include analysis and reporting. The PCE is also responsible for developing and updating amaster schedule and verifying contractor’s monthly schedules and reviewing baseline schedules utilizing Microsoft Project and other schedulingsoftware.

Key Tasks:

  • Ability to develop and maintain amaster schedule with interrelationships betweenprojects.
  • Must be competent in the development and analysis of detailed projectschedules.
  • Must be experienced in developing and using performance trackers for analysing manpower, equipment, and construction progress
  • Ability to organize, analyze, and present information regarding costs andschedules.
  • Must be experienced in preparing estimates and evaluating contractor costproposals.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing clearly, concisely, and effectively with team and otherpersonnel.
  • Ability to prepare reports for variouspurposes.
  • Must be experienced in Project scheduling software such as Microsoft Project and Microsoft Officesoftware.
  • Must have proficiency in English language both verbal andwritten.
  • Scheduling experience for complex heavy industrial projects ispreferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for tracking invoice flow, developing work schedule, monitoring cost, or assisting in the development of project work breakdown structure andsequencing.
  • Collect progress data from site personnel and assemble into progressreport.
  • Review contractor baseline schedules and verify contractor’s monthly updated schedules for accuracy and contractorcompliance.
  • Assist in the review and audit contractor’s invoices.
  • Prepare status reports for progress, schedule, andcost.
  • Generate cash flow reports andgraphs.
  • Prepare what-if analyses based on cost and timeimpacts.
  • Prepare estimates based on available information to establish projectbudgets.
  • Review and evaluate contractor proposals and change orderrequests.
  • Promote safety health &environmental awareness cross allprojects

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employeeis regularly required tostand, sit,demonstratemanual dexterity, climb stairs, talk,hearand see
  • Must be able to work shift work with 12 -hourshifts
  • Occasionally may berequiredto lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during theworkday
  • Work is in asurface mine plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature andhumidity
  • Personal protective equipment isrequiredwhen performing work in amine environment, including hardhat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing,glovesand any other protective equipment asrequired.
Qualifications
  • 5 + years relevant plant construction experience such as process plants, power plantsetc
  • Knowledge of standards and regulations associated with construction on minesites.
  • Experience in mine process plants projectspreferred
  • Degree in Engineering or related discipline (e.g. Mining/Civil, Mechanical, Construction) is highlypreferred.
