Everforth Apex seeks a PLC Controls Technician to support deployment, installation, integration, commissioning, and startup of material handling equipment in large-scale industrial environments. The role is on-site in Papillion, NE, with required travel to Alberta, Canada.

Responsibilities

• Support PLC startup and commissioning activities, including debugging PLC issues.
• Install and integrate controls hardware for conveyor and sortation systems, including PLCs and field I/O devices.
• Assist with electrical installation activities and retrofits for material handling equipment.
• Conduct commissioning activities: device checkout, I/O verification, functional testing with PLC software, HMI and SCADA.
• Troubleshoot PLC communication, device configuration, network failures and startup faults.
• Maintain installation and commissioning records and turnover documentation.

Role Overview

We are seeking a PLC Controls Technician to support the deployment, installation, integration, commissioning, and startup of material handling equipment (MHE) and controls systems in large-scale industrial and fulfillment environments. This role involves being on-site to deploy PLC code, commission new equipment, troubleshoot controls issues, and support conveyor system go-lives. The work schedule is Monday through Saturday, for 40-50 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare PLC deployment packages for site installations and deploy PLC code to production equipment.
• Support PLC startup and commissioning activities, including debugging PLC-related issues.
• Install and integrate controls hardware for conveyor and sortation systems, including PLCs, field I/O devices, MDR controllers, and sensors.
• Support the installation and retrofit of material handling equipment and assist with electrical installation activities.
• Execute commissioning activities such as device checkout, I/O verification, and functional testing using PLC software, HMI, and SCADA systems.
• Troubleshoot PLC communication issues, device configuration problems, network failures, and equipment startup faults.
• Maintain installation and commissioning records, document changes, and assist in developing turnover documentation.

Required Qualifications

Experience: 3+ years of experience as a Controls Technician, Automation Technician, Commissioning Technician, Field Service Technician, or a related role. Experience with PLC programming software, code deployment, and troubleshooting PLC-controlled systems is required.

Technical Skills: Experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLC platforms, Industrial Ethernet networks, HMI systems, SCADA systems, and field I/O devices. The ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, controls drawings, network diagrams, and mechanical layouts is necessary.

Other: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are required. Candidates must have the ability to support startup and commissioning activities in active industrial environments and be willing to travel to project sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with material handling equipment (MHE), conveyor systems, or sortation systems.
• Experience commissioning automated conveyor equipment.
• Familiarity with MDR conveyor technology, conveyor controls, and industrial automation systems.
• Experience performing I/O checkout and startup testing.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
• Experience supporting fulfillment centers, logistics facilities, manufacturing plants, or distribution centers.
