Job summary

CPG in Houston, TX is seeking a Controls & Integration Engineer I to design, develop, install, and maintain equipment used to monitor and control systems across industrial environments. You will work with PLCs, RTUs, and HMIs, and assist in testing, commissioning, and field deployment.

The role requires 1–4 years of engineering experience and a Bachelor's degree in engineering or higher; additional associate or high school credentials with years of experience are noted in our qualification

CONTROLS & INTEGRATION ENGINEER I

Location

Houston, TX

Pay Range

$74,851 - $112,222 per year

Position Summary

Controls Engineers are responsible for designing, developing, installing, and maintaining equipment used to monitor and control systems, equipment and processes. They work in various industries including industrial controls and power controls and protection systems. Controls engineers are technical experts in areas such as advanced process control, instrumentation, distributed control systems, PLCs, and SCADA systems. Controls engineers use these skills to design and implement solutions to our customer's complex needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Design / Engineering
  • Initiates design documents for small projects and in support of large programs
  • Assists Senior Engineers in preparation of designs, including:
  • Performs requirements analysis
  • Create Subsystem Designs (CAD / Panels / Layouts / Wiring / SCADA Screens / Hardware / Communications)
  • Comment Resolution
• Programming
  • Program / Configure / troubleshoot PLCs, RTUs, and/or HMI systems
• Testing / Troubleshooting / Deployment / Commissioning
  • Assist senior engineers in creating and updating testing and commissioning procedures
  • Preparation of test reports
  • Commissioning of deployed systems
  • Perform Factory and Field Testing
• Maintenance
  • Perform troubleshooting on service calls to existing and legacy system operators
  • Perform hardware / software upgrades and replacements on existing systems

Qualifications

• 1-4 years' experience
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or higher
• Associate degree (add 3 years)
• High school diploma (add 5 years)

Computer Skills

• Experience in computer networks
• Experience in CAD/CAE Software (Visio, AutoCAD)
• Standard Office Software (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.)

Certificates and Licenses

• Preferred Licenses / Certifications
  • Certification in one or more PLC / Automation Platform, such as: Niagara N4, Schneider, Rockwell, Siemens, etc.
  • Certification in one or more SCADA platform, such as: Iconics, Ignition, etc.
  • Design Build Institute of America (DBIA)
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) in relevant in field

Physical Demands

Position requires may require around 25% out of town travel.
