Job summary

Progressive Machine and Design is seeking a Controls Hardware Design Engineer II to provide hardware design for turnkey automation equipment. Responsibilities include translating mechanical designs into electrical schematics, drafting with AutoCad Electrical, and creating power and safety schematics.

Qualified candidates will have a BS in EE/EET/Mechatronics or equivalent experience and 5–10 years in controls hardware design, with familiarity with NFPA79, UL508a, CE, CSA standards.

Responsibilities

• Draft with AutoCad Electrical and develop new symbols/circuits as needed.
• Review customer requirements and ensure compliance with standards.

Job Summary

The Controls Hardware Design Engineer II is responsible for providing controls hardware design for turnkey custom automation equipment.

Essential Functions

• Work independently on medium sized or average complexity projects and/or under direction of more senior engineers on portions of larger or more complex projects.
• Review customer requirements, PMD proposal, PMD cost estimate, and Federal, State, & Local requirements.
• In advance of completed Mechanical Engineering design, attend Mechanical Design Reviews to understand machine functionality and incorporate associated Controls Hardware design elements into the Controls Hardware design.
• Translate device list provided by Mechanical Engineering into Controls Hardware design elements.
• Utilize AutoCad Electrical for drafting.
• Use provided symbols & circuits.
• Develop new symbols & circuits as necessary.

Requirements

Education

• BS in EE, EET, Mechatronics, related engineering field; or demonstrated equivalent experience.

Experience (5-10 years)

• AutoCad Electrical

• Power calculations (AC 3phase, AC 1phase, DC 5-90V, Transformers)
• Enclosure Heat calculations
• SCCR calculations
• Fluid Power flow calculations

Physical Demands & Work Environment
