Lincoln Electric’s Controls Engineering Co-op Program in Plymouth, MI invites students pursuing engineering to work on automation projects, design PLC software and HMIs, and gain hands-on experience in a real-world manufacturing setting.

The program includes mentorship, technical training, and opportunities for full-time roles through the Engineering Development Path; immersion day at Cleveland headquarters is required early on.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or achieved a bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology.
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. on a full‑time, permanent basis without sponsorship.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Design PLC software and HMIs for industrial automation equipment
  • Debug and troubleshoot PLC software
  • Maintain task lists and reports of open items
  • Maintain project design documentation and prepare customer deliverables
  • Ensure the controls engineering process is tracked and followed

Overview of the Program

Lincoln Electric’s ControlsEngineeringCo-opProgram offers participants the chance to apply their academic knowledge in real‑world settings. Participants work on meaningful projects in areas such as automation, manufacturing, R&D, and more, gaining valuable hands‑on experience. The program includes technical training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities like presentations and leadership‑led learning sessions. It’s a great way to build skills, grow your network, and explore a future career in engineering.This position requires participation in our Immersion Day at our Cleveland, OH headquarters during one of your first few weeks. Lincoln Electric will provide and cover all travel arrangements and expenses.

What You'll Work On
  • Design PLC software and HMIs for industrial automation equipment
  • Debug and troubleshoot PLC software

Basic Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing or achieved abachelor's degree in engineeringor engineering technology
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. on a full‑time, permanent basiswithout sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
  • Anengineering degree in any of the following disciplines : Electrical,Computerengineering
  • Minimumoverall GPA of 3.0
  • Interest in working in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
