Job summary

JR Automation, a Hitachi Group Company, invites engineering-minded students to join as a Controls Engineering Intern/Co-Op in Holland, MI for May–August 2027. You will assist Controls Engineers and collaborate with Applications, Controls, Mechanical, and Build teams to support design, build, program, and deployment of custom automated equipment.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in an engineering program, possess basic CAD and programming knowledge, and demonstrate teamwork and strong communication.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited college program pursuing an engineering degree.
• Basic proficiency in CAD.
• Basic knowledge of electrical/pneumatic schematic drawing packages.
• Basic proficiency in programming languages.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Computer literacy in Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Willingness to learn and be flexible as part of a project team.
• Perform routine technical work with guidance from experienced engineers.
• Learn and perform basic programming tasks.

As a Controls Engineering Intern/Co-Op, you will assist and support other Controls Engineers. Learn from some of the most dedicated and technically competent engineers in the Automation Industry. JR Automation drives change by learning and innovating faster than anyone else. As a member of a project team, you'll work alongside our Applications, Controls, Mechanical, and Build teams to support the design, build, program, and deployment of custom automated equipment.

What You'll Do:

• Requires a willingness to learn and the ability to be flexible.
• Expected that many tasks asked will be learning experiences, and experienced team members will provide proper instruction.
• Expected to make positive contributions to the company in response to the training provided.
• Performs routine technical work which does not require previous experience.
• Learn and perform basic programming skills.
