Job summary

Dematic is seeking a Controls Engineer to join the Customer Service Modernizations & Upgrades group. You will translate contractual technical requirements into deliverables, design schematics and control panels, and lead commissioning of complex automated systems.

Expect up to 40% travel to customer sites in the United States, with a focus on quality and timely delivery. Ideal candidates have a BS/BA in electrical engineering, 5+ years in related roles, and proficiency in AutoCAD and Rockwell

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in electrical engineering or closely related field.
  • 5+ years of successful experience in related field.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Rockwell PLCs hardware/software.
  • Knowledgeable on AC drives and Ethernet IP network design.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Translate project contractual technical requirements into deliverables for engineering teams.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet quality standards and engineering practices.
  • Lead issue resolution to prevent project delays.
  • Deliver work packages on time and within budget.
  • Act as main contact for project management and cross-functional teams.
  • Prepare project status reports and financial forecasts.
  • Document risks and support risk mitigation.
  • Complete schematic and control panel designs and commissioning.

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $96,800.00 - $145,200.00 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

What You Will Do In This Role
  • Translate project contractual technical requirements into deliverables and tasks for engineering teams (design/layout, emulation, order entry, drawings, commissioning).
  • Ensure all deliverables and solutions meet quality standards, processes, and established engineering practices.
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues impacting engineering tasks to prevent project delays.
  • Monitor and manage project team performance to ensure KPIs are achieved.
  • Deliver assigned work packages on time and within budget, as defined by the Project Manager.
  • Act as the main point of contact for project management, Mechanical Engineering, mechanical and electrical installation, procurement, and manufacturing regarding engineering deliverables.
  • Collaborate with ME and other CE Leads to ensure third‑party specifications and resale component requirements are accurate and complete.
  • Track engineering progress against schedule; report updates with ME/CE Leads.
  • Prepare project status reports, financial forecasts, and schedule updates.
  • Support project risk management by documenting, escalating, and mitigating risks.
  • Lead technical reviews and conduct post‑mortems with project managers to drive continuous improvement.
  • Completes the design of schematics and control panels.
  • Completes the commissioning of complex systems that integrate hardware and software.
  • Completes recommendations for ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction and improvement in customer satisfaction.
  • Must be open to travel up to 40% to customer locations in the USA.
What We Are Looking For
  • BS/BA in electrical engineering or closely related field
  • 5+ years of successful experience in related field.
  • Demonstrates and applies a broad knowledge of field of specialization through successful completion of moderately complex assignments.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of organization's business practices and issues.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD a plus.
  • Proficient in either Rockwell PLCs, hardware and software
  • Knowledgeable on AC drives, both open & closed loop.
  • Experience in Ethernet IP network design
  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to deliver results.
  • Demonstrated problem solver with excellent communication skills.
